I May be the Subject of a Reprisal
The Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act protects you from reprisals if you report a wrongdoing.
Types of disclosures
Reprisals consist of the following measures:
- a disciplinary measure,
- a demotion,
- the termination of employment,
- any measure that adversely affects your employment or working conditions,
- a threat to take such measure.
If you feel that you are the subject of a reprisal because you have disclosed a wrongdoing, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner. The Commisioner can ask the Tribunal to hear your complaint if he feels that it is warranted. The Tribunal may order remedies on your behalf and disciplinary action against the persons who took the reprisal.
For more information, please consult the Reprisal complaint process.
